First offering since 1993: Finis E. Yoakum House, 1915. Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument No. 287. Built for the founder of what came to be known as the Pisgah Home Historic District in Highland Park (on the National Register of Historic Places), Finis E. Yoakum provided faith healing and social services to the needy around 1900. His loyal followers repaid him by building a large Tudor style property to the south that would be used as his personal residence. In the 107 years since its completion, the Yoakum House is one of the largest landmarks in the neighborhood and miraculously has retained much of its original historic fabric. Formal entry, wainscoting, coffered ceilings, large pocket doors between rooms and two hand carved fireplaces can be found on the first floor.
